Citizens On Patrol to Hold Rally Against Crime in Towson

Hundreds of people are expected to attend Towson’s Rally Against Crime on June 17, 2016 at 6 PM.  Sponsored by the Towson Area Citizens On Patrol (TACOP), this Rally will highlight TACOP’s “if you see something – say something” crime fighting campaign, which sends the strong message that Crime is Not Welcome in Towson.  Working in partnership with the Baltimore County Police, TACOP volunteers patrol the streets of Towson to help keep residents, businesses and students safe.

Highlights of TACOP’s 16th Rally Against Crime ceremony include a Boy Scouts of America Color Guard and the singing of the national anthem, brief remarks by Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz and Police Chief James Johnson and awards recognizing TACOP unsung heroes for their significant contributions to make Towson a safer place.

Honorees this year include: Captain Jay Landsman, Jr. and his staff for outstanding service to the Towson community; Lt. Randy Guraleczka for excellent service to the Towson community; Officer Kathy Kraemer and Stacia Smith for service above and beyond the call of duty; and Officer Candice Covington, Police and Community Relations Council Precinct Six 2015 Officer of the Year.

The Rally Against Crime will be held Friday, June 17, 2016, 6:00 to 6:30 PM, at Allegheny Avenue between Washington Avenue and the Roundabout. Towson’s popular Friday night “Feet on the Street” block party will follow the Rally.  Every year, a large number of elected officials, business leaders, local residents and students turn out for the Rally to show their support for TACOP and its efforts to fight crime and keep Towson safe. MidState Community Bank at York Road and Register Avenue is this year’s corporate sponsor.

TACOP invites the public to come out and support its June 17 Rally Against Crime. Captain Dee-Fense will put in a special appearance at the Rally. Families are encouraged to bring their children to enjoy activities like climbing on a fire truck, sitting in a police car and getting inside of a race car.  In the event of rain, the Rally will be held at the Trinity Episcopal Church, 120 Allegheny Ave. See https://towsonareacop.wordpress.com/about/ for more information or call 410-828-5564.

TACOP is a 501c3 organization founded in 2000 to help Towson Area neighborhoods start COP Programs. Currently, TACOP has 25 active COP neighborhoods, solely supported by donations from the public.
